Catechism is starting up!

Parents -

We are excited for starting up another year of catechism for our youth (3rd – high school). But you might be asking, “What is catechism?” or “Why is it important?” Catechism is simply providing instruction in the very basic and important beliefs of our Christian faith. The practice of catechism really is the Christian equivalent of looking at the box top of a jig-saw puzzle before one starts to put all of those hundreds of little pieces together. We are helping our students to better understand who God and how He works in our lives and this world is by breaking down those important beliefs of our faith based off what the Bible tells us.

We are excited to start up this fall on Sunday, September 9, 2018. On that particular Sunday, we will not expect anything from the students but to bring notes from the sermon. We will spend some time talking about class expectations (study, memorization, sermon note taking, etc.).

All of our classrooms are going to be found in the upper level of the church and will meet immediately after the service. This year will be having three classes for our students, but we are also very excited to invite any adults to join our 8th grade – high school class.

So the classes are:

  • 3rd grade – 5th grade: Laura Vroom will be using the New City Catechism (Snack provided)
  • 6th grade and 7th Grade: Matt Priebe will be using the Heidelberg Catechism (Snack provided)
  • 8th grade – Adult: Eric Bailey will be using the Westminster Catechism (Grab a Coffee, juice or cookie before class)

We are looking forward to growing with you and your child as they “grow in grace and in knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!” If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Laura Vroom!

Together for the Gospel,

Paul Vroom
