It’s that time again! After much anticipation and planning, we are happy to unveil the next round of Men’s Study: a journey through the book of Second Corinthians. Starting September 16, we will gather each Tuesday night from 7:00 – 9:00PM at the Missional Outpost for an 11 week discussion of the Apostle Paul’s second recorded letter to the Corinthian church.

In this letter we will uncover many things including the Apostle Paul’s relationship to the Corinthian church, his delights in them, and also his frustrations. Many times you will read his remarks and wonder if he wasn’t addressing the church in the 21st century instead of the 1st century! That’s what makes this book such an important resource for believers, both 2000 years ago and today. Central to the theme of this book and the Apostle Paul’s ministry as a whole are: explaining the facts of Christ’s earthly work and ministry, how this fits into the broader scope of Scripture, the relationship between Christ’s actions and our lives, and subsequently how we are to respond to this message.

Growing in discipleship was a necessary component for the Corinthian church and is still important for each and every believer. But this can only be accomplished when we understand “why” discipleship is necessary in the first place, and where that desire should spring from. Do we fully understand the drama of the life of Christ, the story of his life and works, and do we truly understand the doctrine that explains why Christ did what he did for us? Only then will we spring forth in praise and discipleship and strive to be his ambassadors, his witnesses, to those around us.

What will it be like?

We’ll do a lot to try to understand the big picture at first, and then go one chapter each week, asking questions that probe the whole group. There will be time for large and small group discussion as well as a time of teaching.

Expectations

You must make every effort to attend every session in order to join the group. You will be asked to read the book of 2 Corinthians at least 2 times a week for the weeks we are meeting.

When and where?

We will be meeting upstairs fellowship room in the church building from 7:00 – 9:00 PM on the Tuesdays listed below. Before you commit, please check your calendar, clear the dates with your spouse or significant other, then add these dates to your calendar and make it a priority to attend… even if the weather is beautiful or if you are tired from a long day of work.
