On January 29th, Missio Dei Church will not meet for our corporate worship in the morning. Instead, we will join together Sunday evening and serve where there are needs in our community. Our main focus for our Fifth Sunday in January will be to serve a meal and hand out much needed items to those in need at Morning Star Mission in Joliet (we were told to plan for 200 people). Please invite others into this opportunity to serve. The time line and needs are as follows (Please RSVP ASAP and fill a role so that we can plan accordingly):
NOW:
- Pray-Pray for those that we will be serving and those that will be serving along side of us!
- Begin collecting socks and deodorant. We will pass these items out while we are there to those we are serving a meal to. Consider how you and your family can do this. Perhaps asking your neighbors and friends, putting out a box at work asking for these items, or asking stores for donations. We will collect these each Sunday up until our serving Sunday.
- If you are interested in being a part of the crew that decides what food, and how much will be served on this day, email me (). There is also a tour of the kitchen for planning purposes that will take place.
January 29th:
2PM-4PM Food Prep. This preparation will be done at Morning Star Mission in their kitchen with the food we will be bringing. The food is TBD. No kids during food prep time and a maximum of 7 people in the kitchen.
3PM-4PM Set Up time-2-3 people will be needed to help set out the food and set up the socks and deodorant hand out area.
4PM-5PM Residents of Morning Star Mission are served. We will need a group of 7 people serving the meal. We will also need a group of 4-5 people passing out socks/deodorant to those going through the line (this is a little kid family friendly job).
5PM-6PM Open to the public for the meal. We will need a new set of 7 people to serve the meal and a new set of people passing out socks/deodorant.
5:30PM-6:30PM Clean Up Crew. A group of 10 would be ideal for clean up involving washing dishes, cleaning the kitchen, and whatever else they ask us to do (kid friendly).
