What is Leadership Community?

Leadership Community is a monthly gathering of all MDC staff, house group leaders, apprentices, and anyone who contributes somehow to God's work in the church. It occurs on the third Saturday of every month.

The Vision

It is important for us as a church to know God's vision for us and to be reminded and encouraged by it regularly. It is said that a vision starts dying after a couple of months if the leaders rarely or never hear about it. This usually leads to feelings of being disconnected, unappreciated, and burned out. So we have made it our commitment to meet once a month to celebrate what God is doing through us, to continue to cast his vision, and to encourage the leaders in his mission. Leadership Community, then, is really like a big party or pep rally where we share vision and appreciate our leaders. And there are refreshments. (That usually gets people to come to anything...)

The Sessions

There are two sessions for the morning. The first session is from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. and is intended for ministry leaders to meet with their respective ministry area. The second session is 10:15 - 11:00 a.m. It is the main session for everybody. Two general things take place at the main session:

  1. We recognize, celebrate and appreciate our new leaders.
  2. We have a vision time when we hear from our lead pastor Paul Vroom. We get encouraged about our mission and how God is winning in various areas of our church. We also see where MDC is going and how we're getting there.

Are You In?

It is clear enough how important and beneficial it is for all of our leaders to participate in this every month. And so, it is something that we expect our leaders to attend. It's a monthly party to celebrate our new leaders and celebrate what God is doing through our leaders. It's a spectacular event to see all those coming together who are "in this mission" and have committed themselves to helping other people find their way back to God!
