Fellow MDC family member or friend,
For the past year and a half, Laura and I have been praying diligently for Missio Dei Church. We have had the honor of working with a great team of people who helped discern what God is calling this new local expression of the Body of Christ to be and do. As a team of unique and different individuals, we have joined together to serve wholeheartedly, as if serving the Lord, not men… (Ephesians 6:7). We have seen new faces join our little growing community and we are starting to see God move in fresh and new ways each passing week.
For those who call Missio Dei Church their family, giving cheerfully and sacrificially of our finances is part of our worship. A believer labors not to accrue personal wealth or possessions, but to steward God's resources well and model Jesus to brothers, sisters, and community.
One of the facets of MDC that we want to disclose to you is how we are doing financially as a family thus far. We have been reporting via email our giving in the MDC Weekly so that the church and our guests can see how we’re doing as a body in meeting our financial needs, but we thought it would be wise to share exactly how we are doing.
We are halfway through our 2007 fiscal year as of June 31. Tithes and offerings were budgeted for $99,760 for this year. Since March (public worship) we have been averaging approximately $1690 per week and totaling $38,917.41. Currently we are at 39% of our expected giving budget for this year. To meet budget for 2007, for the remainder of the year, we need to average a weekly offering of $2,340.
Our work is an effort to serve our Father in all things, and one of the primary ways we serve God is by cheerfully giving God our “first fruits” (2 Corinthians 9:7; Proverbs 3:9). We call our members to give, not by meeting some petty, obligatory percentage, but by digging deep and sacrificing for the sake of the gospel because Jesus sacrificed for us, and all we have is His anyway.
If you have been giving to Missio Dei Church using a check, online giving, or designating your cash donation with an envelope, you will find your Donor Statement for the first and second quarters of 2007. If you have any questions about its contents, please feel free to contact Gary Tomanich via email ().
We thank those who have helped us meet these needs and pray that those coming and remaining would join in faithful, consistent, godly giving as Scripture instructs.
Because of the cross…
