New Life Parallels

The birth of Isaac is something that neither Laura nor I would trade for anything. He is a handsome month old boy who has already brought great joy to our family.

However, these past few weeks have been crazy, exciting, and quite honestly... exhausting. It takes emotional and physical hours (especially for Laura) to prepare for his needs and growth (groceries, diapers, etc.), to care for his moment by moment needs (feeding, changing diapers, etc.), and to participate with him (hold, cuddle, talk with him).

As I look into Isaac's eyes, I dream about what God has in store for his future. It will take time (a lotGrace and Isaac of time) to see this infant into adulthood. It will take resources (raising a kid ain't cheap) to give him what he needs. It will also take God-fearing community (because thatis God's desire for his covenant community) investing in him in every way possible.

I think there are some amazing parallels when it comes to being on this mission with God. MDC right now is in a very fragile state. It needs a lot of preparation, care for its moment by moment needs, and a lot of participation. The beauty of MDC is that we have a family who is dedicated to seeing it through the birthing stage into the rest of its life. Each of you (even those who will not be making MDC your church family) will play a unique role based on your prayers, spiritual and financial gifts, passions, background, time available, etc.

I pray that as we continue to talk and dream about MDC that we realize that it is not just a dream, but it is a reality. I pray that each person realizes that he/she has been brought to caring for Missio Dei Church for a special reason and that is to see the name and the fame of God spread to all the world.
